That's an amazing injury - wonder how he managed that? Great that he's more comfortable.

Poor guy. I'm glad he's bearing weight and nothing is broken. I wonder how he managed to do that . . . crazy horses are trying to kill us lol!

Eek, that's pretty gnarly! It's amazing how quickly they heal up, though. Glad he's doing well.

I'm so glad to see he's bearing weight on it! I saw the picture before scrolling to the text, and totally thought those were maggots! I'm glad you explained.
Yeah for one thing going well!

Yes, once he started putting weight on it I quit worrying. It will take some time to heal, the vet said 30 days stall rest minimum. I can deal with THAT...! It's a huge, deep injury, and how he managed to do it to himself is a complete mystery. All we can figure out is that he jumped out of his paddock, injured himself to the point of being on 3 legs, and jumped back in.

He has been SO good and SO patient about having it irrigated and cleaned up every day.

Wow, I wonder what he did. I hope he heals up quick! Sorry to hear you are having kind of a rough time lately :( I hope things get better soon and the stress lets up on you.

I saw your FB post this morning about Mindy Lou :( *Hugs* from Klein and I. Atleast she is resting in peace and you don't have to worry so much about her now.
